Volunteer Opportunities in Childline
The ISPCC in Castlebar is looking to recruit volunteers for both its Childline and Mentoring services.
These services survive on the time dedicated by volunteers who believe in the child-centred ethos of the organisation.
Childline supports children & young people up to the age of 18 via web, phone and text. These services experience a growing demand each year and with the hard work of our volunteers we are currently striving to attain a 100% call answering rate by 2011. The ISPCC wants to see an Ireland where all children’s voices are not alone heard, but also listened to.
The mentoring service offered by the ISPCC in Mayo offers one to one emotional support to children, teenagers and parents. A volunteer is matched based on their common location and interests. This relationship usually lasts for a couple hours a week for about 6 months.
Potential volunteers come from all different backgrounds with all different life experiences. Full training is provided to all in recognition of this.
Volunteering with your local ISPCC in Mayo is way to help and empower children, young people and their families in your county and indeed nationally.
