Achieved through the four services; Childline, Leanbh, Teenfocus and Childfocus.
Activities are child-centred, placing the child as the key focus of practice. This is based on the belief that all children have the right to access support services.
The ISPCC aims to reach 100% call capacity on Childline by the end of 2011 making sure every child has a chance to be heard.
Definition; advocacy is the act of arguing on behalf of a particular issue, idea or person.
The ISPCC has a long and proud history lobbying and campaigning for, and on behalf of, children and young people in Ireland.
We strongly believe in a nation where children are safeguarded from all forms of exploitation and abuse, and one that protects the rights of children and ensures their voices are heard.
The key issues in terms of advocacy and campaigning are addressed via our ten point plan – How can we be sure they’re safe?
The ISPCC has been at the forefront of forming participation and consultation initiatives with children, including:
- Dail na nOg
- Regional Dail na bPaisti for 8-12 year olds
- County Development Board (Comhairle na nOg)
- The inclusion of children in the ombudsman for children interviewing process
We now hold in-house seminars and children’s advisory committees.
