Yvonne Connolly Launches ‘DONATE FOR DISCOUNTS WEEKEND’ At Blanchardstown Centre

Yvonne Connolly has launched Donate for Discounts – a weekend at Blanchardstown Centre supporting ISPCC Childline. Taking place on May 26th and 27th, Donate for Discounts will offer customers the chance to enjoy fantastic entertainment and discounts for up to 100 stores when they show their support for Ireland’s 24-hour listening service for children and young people. Shoppers at Blanchardstown Centre on May 26th and 27th will have an opportunity to purchase a wristband in aid of the charity for just €3. Simply show your wristband in participating stores in the centre over the weekend to receive up to 20 per cent off! A number of collection points will also be in place around the Centre, enabling supporters to donate to ISPCC Childline. All funds raised will go towards helping ensure the service is always there for children and young people in Ireland. ISPCC Childline costs €3.5 million to run and depends on public and corporate support for over 90 per cent of this funding. The service receives over 380,000 contacts from children and young people every year via its phone, text and online services. Those who contact Childline may be lonely, hurt, or upset, or may simply wish to have someone with whom to share their hopes and dreams. Childline volunteers and staff listen, support and empower children and young people 24 hours a day, every day. ISPCC CEO Grainia Long said: “We would like to thank Blanchardstown Centre and all of the stores within the Centre for supporting this initiative in aid of Childline. Our sincere thanks also go to Yvonne Connolly for launching Donate for Discounts, as well as to all of the wonderful volunteers who are helping to raise funds. As the ISPCC relies so heavily on public support, fundraising volunteers are essential to the charity. Everyone’s support will help ensure Childline can continue to be there for children and young people in need of a listening ear at any time of any day or night.” Speaking at the launch, Yvonne Connolly said: “I am delighted to launch ‘Donate for Discounts’ for ISPCC Childline, as it is such an important service for children and young people in Ireland. The ISPCC is a charity that is close to my heart and I admire Blanchardstown Centre for organising this event to raise vital funds for Childline. I would urge everyone to drop into the Blanchardstown Centre this May 26th and 27th and show your support.” Mercy Prendergast from Blanchardstown Centre said: “Blanchardstown Centre is delighted to host ‘Donate for Discounts’ Week in support of ISPCC Childline. We look forward to welcoming customers to an exciting weekend with great entertainment, giveaways and discounts from their favourite stores throughout the Centre and all for a very worthy cause.”
