Republic of Ireland and Southampton footballer Shane Long has teamed up with Intersport Elverys to show his support for ISPCC Childline’s Headbomz campaign, by sporting a colourful new beanie hat displaying the ‘Talking Makes Us Stronger’ message. The exciting new range of beanies is now retailing at Intersport Elverys stores nationwide in aid of Ireland’s only 24-hour listening service for children.

The national child protection charity’s ‘Headbomz’ campaign encourages children to talk about their feelings, thoughts and worries with a parent, a teacher, a friend, or Childline – because ‘Talking Makes Us Stronger’. The Headbomz campaign presents a brain-poppingly fun way to remind children that talking builds emotional resilience.

The beanies are now retailing at Intersport Elverys stores nationwide, with 100 per cent of all profits coming directly to ISPCC Childline.

Shane Long said: “ISPCC Childline is a great charity and I’m delighted to support it and to help spread the important message that Talking Makes Us Stronger.”

ISPCC CEO John Church said: “The ISPCC is delighted that Intersport Elverys has chosen to support our Headbomz campaign, by retailing this wonderful range of beanies in aid of Childline. We are sincerely grateful to Intersport Elverys for making the ‘Headbomz’ message – ‘Talking Makes Us Stronger’ – so visible on these hats which are being retailed just in time for the winter season.

“ISPCC Childline is keen to ensure that every child and young person in Ireland knows of the importance of talking. When they have an issue on their mind, they may wish to talk to a parent, sibling, teacher or coach – or they may wish to talk to Childline. Childline volunteers are there to listen, support and empower children and young people 24 hours a day, every day. Children and young people can contact Childline for free by calling 1800 66 66 66 or visiting childline.ie.”

Senior Marketing Manager at Intersport Elverys, Ann-Marie Hanly, said: “We’re delighted to join forces once again with ISPCC Childline. Our aim is two-fold. We want to help build awareness as well as help fund the vital services provided by Childline.

“We couldn’t do this without the enthusiasm of our staff and the generosity of our customers. We are excited to launch our latest range of ‘Headbomz’ beanies and delighted to be donating 100 per cent of profits to help build a better, brighter future for children.”
