Blanchardstown Centre’s Donate for Discounts raises €32,000 for Childline, the 24-hour listening service for children
ISPCC Childline is delighted to announce that Blanchardstown Centre’s recent Donate for Discounts event raised a staggering €32,000 for the charity.
Customers in their thousands generously donated to the fundraising initiative in the Centre with all proceeds going to ISPCC Childline.
This money will go towards the cost of recruiting and training volunteers to answer calls, texts and online contacts from children, for the 24-hour listening service for children.
ISPCC Childline Interim CEO, Caroline O’Sullivan said: “We’d like to say a massive ‘thank you’ to everyone who supported Childline at Blanchardstown Centre. The Childline team was bowled over by the generosity of everyone we met and the welcome we received.
“It was brilliant for the team to meet so many kind and friendly customers and extremely moving to hear from so many why they support Childline, what Childline means to them and their families, or children that they know. Childline is there for every child, every day, and it is incredibly inspiring to our team of volunteers and staff to get such fantastic public support.
“Childline needs to raise almost 85 per cent of its annual costs through fundraising, and that is only possible through the generosity of the public. We are very grateful to all the staff at Blanchardstown Centre, and all the shops that came on board the brilliant ‘Donate for Discounts’ scheme to make sure that children in Ireland can talk to someone they trust about what is worrying them, 24-hours a day. The funds raised in Blanchardstown Centre will be part of every call, text and online contact we answer.”
Ciara Curtis, Deputy Marketing Manager from Blanchardstown Centre said: “We were delighted to raise funds for ISPCC Childline at our Donate for Discounts event. Customers donated to this very worthy cause and availed of some great discounts across the Centre in return for their generosity! It was a win-win for everyone involved and we would like to thank all of our stores and customers for their support. It was a pleasure working with the ISPCC Childline team and wonderful to get the great result of a massive €32,000 which was raised. This will go directly to their 24-hour listening service for children, Childline, which is a vital outlet for children in need and needs our support now more than ever”.
