ISPCC Childline, Ireland’s national active listening service for children, is calling on creches, schools, community groups, businesses and individuals across the country to host a breakfast this October and help raise vital funds to ensure Childline is always there to listen.

The service is asking people of all ages and walks of life to ‘All Rise for Childline’ this October by hosting a breakfast for friends, family members or colleagues and raising much-needed funds for the listening service.

Breakfasts held will ensure Childline can continue to support and empower children 24 hours a day, every day.

Childline answers over 1,000 contacts every day by phone, online live chat and text. Many of these contacts come at night and in the early morning, as children and young people face the day ahead. They may be lonely, hurt or upset. They may have experienced abuse or trauma. Childline is always there to support them and lets them know they matter.

ISPCC Director of Fundraising Gill Waters said: “We quite simply could not be there 24 hours a day without events such as our Childline Breakfast. We need to raise €3.2 million every year to ensure Childline is always there for every child and young person in Ireland, every day and night. We rely on public donations for over 90 per cent of this funding. By hosting a breakfast for Childline with your friends, community or your colleagues, you will be helping us make a difference. You will be a part of every contact Childline answers. Thank you.”
