“Years ago I was one of the many children to call Childline to ask for advice and help.

‘I felt worthless but having a friendly voice on the other end there to listen to me, helped immensely. Thank you all for the work that you do.”

“When I was 15 I rang and was met with such compassion and understanding. It was an extremely difficult call to make, one that took nearly 8 years to make.

‘I’m 28 next month and I can still remember the relief I felt when the woman I spoke to listened to me and supported me. It was the start of me dealing with what had happened to me.

‘Thank you to all the work you do. I hope to give back more again but for now I wanted to at least give this much.”

In 2018, public support helped the ISPCC to make a difference in the lives of thousands of children and families across Ireland:

403 children were worked with on an individual basis by ISPCC Child and Family Support Workers, to build their resilience and support them to cope with situations in their lives.

Childline answered 282,400 calls to the phone service and 27,740 conversations were hosted via the Childline Online service options (web chat and live text)

29 individuals took part in the ISPCC Mentoring Programme in 2018.

Service volunteers donated almost 45,000 hours to the ISPCC to enable us to run our services

A total of 78 individuals (children and parents / guardians) took part in ISPCC Child and Family Support Services Group Work in 2018.

The ISPCC developed policy submissions, inputted into legislative developments and actively influenced changes in legislation and policy to make Ireland a better place for children to live.
