ISPCC And Penneys Campaign Makes Cents For Childline

Ireland’s Fittest Family coach and All Ireland-winning camogie star Anna Geary teamed up with ISPCC Childline and Penneys, to celebrate a partnership which makes it easy for Penneys customers to support children and young people across Ireland. From February 17th to 23rd, Penneys Makes Cents will present customers with a chance to ‘Add a little. Do a lot’ for Ireland’s national listening service for children.

Over 380,000 calls, texts and online contacts are made by children and young people every year to Childline’s free phone line, live text and web chat services. Children call Childline for many reasons: they might be lonely, upset, worried or scared, they might have experienced trauma or abuse, or they might simply just wish to talk about their day. When children contact Childline, they are seeking a listening ear and often feel as though they have nowhere else to turn.

At Penneys stores across the country from February 17th to 23rd, customers will have the opportunity to donate 50 cent or more to Ireland’s only 24‐hour listening service for children when purchasing their items. ISPCC’s Childline service will receive 100 per cent of all donations raised through Penneys Makes Cents.

Anna Geary said: “I am delighted to support this fantastic partnership between ISPCC Childline and Penneys. With the support of Penneys and its customers, the vital Childline service will be there for every child and young person in Ireland at every hour of every day and night in 2019 and beyond. Children and young people can contact Childline by call, text or chat and it makes perfect sense for Penneys to highlight that.”

ISPCC CEO John Church said: “ISPCC Childline is really delighted Penneys is once again supporting us through the innovative Penneys Makes Cents campaign. Penneys has generously helped Childline listen to children and young people for many years and we’re very grateful for their continued support.”

Primark Director of People and Culture, Ciara Ruane, said: “We’re delighted to support Childline’s fantastic work for the sixth year through the Penneys Makes Cents campaign. We know our customers love supporting this worthy cause just as much as we do.”

To help keep Childline listening to children and young people, drop into your local Penneys store between February 17th and 23rd and donate 50 cent or more to ISPCC Childline.
