Last December Childline received over 7,000 calls & chats from children and young people. Let’s make sure we are here for them again this year.

Orla’s Story:
This Christmas, what some children want more than anything is to
be safe and loved.
Children call us about school and bullying. Some call about feeling sad or anxious.
Some even just call to share a joke. But some callers, you never forget.
Orla was 9, maybe 10. As she slowly opened up to us, we learned more and more about the awful truth. Orla was being sexually abused.
The monster she talked about was in her home. He should have been one of the most trusted people in her life. Instead, he was a monster.
Over the next few months Orla trusted us enough to help her to get to safety. She is now in a loving foster home and beginning to heal. We continue to hear from her, and are honoured to be part of that process with her.
Childline wants to be there to listen to and protect children just like Orla. Your support will allow us to do that

The sad truth is that Orla’s situation isn’t rare. Too many children aren’t safe at home. They’re struggling with the kind of monsters no child should face.
Monsters in their own homes – neglect, abuse, and violence.

Childline Christmas Tree Location
Located at Harbour Square in Dún Laoghaire, outside our National Childline Hub, our 30ft Christmas Tree will be in situ from 27th November through to 5th January.
During this time there is an estimated pedestrian footfall of 350,000 in the surrounding vicinity as outlined below (see numbers on map to the right):
