Your Question

Violence in the home from a child

Answer

Welcome

Hi and welcome to Ask Robyn.

Thank you for your question. We understand it can be difficult to talk about what is happening inside the home, and it sounds like you are having a difficult experience.

You are not alone

It is important to remember that you are not alone in this. There are many services available that offer support to parents. Are you able to practice any self-care? During challenging times, it is important to try to recharge your own batteries. Have you got a support network or someone close to you that you can talk to about what is going on?

Specialist support programmes

The ISPCC runs NVR (Non-Violent Resistance) programmes. This programme is designed to support parents experiencing child-to-parent violence in the home. You can find more information and referral details here: ISPCC NVR.

Parent Line: You could also reach out to Parent Line. They offer a free, confidential, and non-judgemental support line. Parent Line is there to listen and give guidance on all parenting concerns.

Parenting hub resources: You can also find useful resources on the ISPCC Parenting Hub. It has webinars, articles, and advice on a wide range of topics, including managing conflict in the home.
