Your Question
I am writing to express my deep concerns regarding the refusal to provide accommodation for my family, despite our current homeless situation. As a father of two children, I find it deeply unfair that temporary accommodation has been arranged for me, while my wife and children remain without proper housing. Separating our family under such circumstances feels neither fair nor humane. I urge you to consider the humanitarian and health aspects of this matter and to take swift action to support us during this difficult time.
Answer
Hello, and thank you for getting in touch with ISPCC Childline.
We are sorry to hear about all of the accommodation issues that you and your family are experiencing. It must be very difficult for you all, especially having two young children.
Unfortunately, here in ISPCC Childline we would not have any remit over matters pertaining to accommodation or with local City Councils or the Children Disability Network Team. We can however, provide some contact details of people and organisations who may be able to help you:
- The contact details for Dublin City Council Homeless Support are 01 222 2222 and the email address is [email protected]
- The contact details for the North Inner City Children’s Disability Network Team are Summerhill Primary Care Centre, 46 to 65 Summerhill, Dublin 1, D01 T6C2. 01 9211658 [email protected]
- You could also get in touch with Túsla’s CFSN Coordinator for Dublin North City [email protected] who may be able to help with the issues relating to your children’s welfare as well provide advice on other services that are local to you.
- Another useful number is for the homeless charity Focus Ireland, which is located at 9 – 12 High Street Christchurch Dublin 8, and can be reached on 01 881 5900 and [email protected]
- An additional source of advice is Dublin City Centre Citizens Information Centre, Montgomery House, James Joyce St, D01 H5F1 who can be contacted on 0818 07 7230 or [email protected]
Thank you again for reaching out—we hope you’ve found this information helpful. If you’d like to discuss this further, you can contact the ISPCC’s Support Line service by emailing [email protected] or by calling 01 522 4300 between 9 am and 1 pm, Monday to Friday.
We wish you and your family the best of luck with everything,
Robyn
